It's been a while since we've had an update around here. Joe and Luke have started playing out again in earnest. After a great show at The Mutiny in November with our buddies The Loafers we are heading over there again on Fri. Jan 22nd 2010. Next year will also be a year for recording, we hope to have an albums worth of material recorded and released by the years end.

Luke and Joe are currently working on a highly classified project to resurrect Vic Vacume and the Attachments sometime in the summer of 2009...stay tuned!

While Goldfish is on hiatus Luke has been playing with ReadySetGo. A bit calmer than Goldfish but none the less enjoyable. Check them out at

We've got a show coming up at Penny Road Pub on November 14.   We'll be playing upstairs around 9:30 or 10:00.  Check out the Gigs page for directions and phone.

Laurie and John I apologize for not getting those CD's out to you.  We've been planning on remixing a bunch of songs so I didn't want to send them until they were done ;-)

In the meantime there are a bunch of songs available on the songs page

Just added 4 new free songs for download....go check em out right now!

A bit late adding this one... but once again, A Goldfish Named Blade was picked as the number 1 band name in Chicago for the second time!  Click the pic to listen to the nail biting countdown where Blade is victorious once again.

It's back! The second ChancesR reunion show will be on May 31.  The show should be dripping with nostalgia, see the gigs page for the incredible list of bands that will be playing that night.

In the are some memories from the recent D.R.I. show

Jay about to get his ass kicked....

A Goldfish Named Blade

The Loafers!!

Holy Crap! A Goldfish Named Blade is opening for punk legends D.R.I.  on May 9 at Penny Road Pub.  This is a show not to be missed.  The loafers will be there also so make sure to bring the whole family!

Check out the gigs page for details.

We were picked as best band name of the week on the Steve Dahl and Buzz Killmen show on WCKG.  Here is a transcript of what was said:

The top ten best band names playing this week:
10 No use for a name
9 The boss martians
8 I'm the world trade center
7 Trading brains
6 Lying in states
5 Frantic appetite
4 Bag of barbies
3 Your mother's lovers
2 Chinchilla fury

...and the number one best band name, playing in the Chicagoland area this week, at the Penny Road Pub tonight, A Goldfish Named Blade, oh man(in the background), A Goldfish Named Blade. (laughter) That's tonight at the Penny Road Pub.

We are deeply honored for this touching tribute to Blade.  Our name has always been ridiculed but never on such a grand scale.  This exceeds our wildest expectations.

The show at Penny Road was a little rough, we were kind of worn out from all of the trick or treating from the night before.  We broke out a few new songs, though, and should have a few more for the next show.  We are looking forward to coming back to Penny Road in December.  We'll post the date here when we have it.

Hey! we are starting a mailing list.  If you would like to keep informed of the latest Blade happenings just head on over to the contacts page and send us an email with "Mailing List" in the subject line.  You don't have to write anymore than that, unless you are inclined to do so.

And as always if you have anything you would like to say to us, positive or otherwise we are always listening and there to help.

Thanks to everyone that came to the show at Rock House in Rolling Meadows.

While we were sound checking a patron insisted we quiet down.  We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience we caused this gentlemen and all of our shows from now on will be amplified exclusively through headphones.  We will be supplying headphones along with 150ft extension cables so everyone can move freely throughout the bar while enjoying their private listening experience.  This should cut down on our noise level considerably.

Just played a show at Penny Road Pub last night.  Thanks to everybody that came, saw some friends that we haven't seen in a long time, always very nice :-)

The crowd was great, a special thanks to Jim for singing a song with us and all of the audience participation.

We have some surplus WWII flak jackets that we are going to be handing out at our future shows to try and protect the audience from cymbal shrapnel.  A large chunk of cymbal went rocketing into the audience about half way through the show last night.  Thankfully there were no serious injuries.

Two shows added. Check out the gigs page for details.

Get the new Blade cd at the shows!  Don't worry, it don't cost a thing!  Just ask and you shall receive.

The rotting corpse of A Goldfish Named Blade has been exhumed!  Thanks to the Penny Road Pub Chances R reunion we have come out of retirement.  We are older, wiser and a little bit fatter and we are coming to a town near you.  This web page will be the place to find our shows, check back often.
